Christmas comes to Cambridgeshire
With the festive season upon us, visiting a local Christmas market is a sure way to get into the Christmas spirit! There is nothing quite like wandering around stalls full of unique trinkets with family and friends, with a warm mug of hot chocolate or mulled wine in hand to keep away the wintery cold.
Perhaps the most highly anticipated event of the season is the annual Mill Road Winter Parade which is set to take place on Saturday 3rd of December.
Jam-packed with live music, performances from the community circus, the famous fire-truck pull, and a tasty medley of food and drinks stalls, this parade is the perfect festive day out for all the family.
Lucky residents living at Ironworks are mere moments away from the festivities, enjoying a front-row view of the parade from the comfort of their own balconies.
Only a 15-minute drive from Capstone Fields, in the attractive village of Hardwick, the stunning Wimpole Estate is transformed into a winter wonderland from the 25th of November until the 1st of January, allowing plenty of time to visit over the Christmas holidays.
Visitors can explore the grounds after dark following the stunning Illuminations Trail to discover twinkling tunnels of light, giant baubles, glistening Christmas Trees, and colourful festive projections on the Manor House itself. For those with a keen eye, you may also spot Santa Claus on the grounds!
Wanting a more hands-on experience? Reserve a place on the wreath-making workshops or get involved in the carol singing in the Stables – it’s advised to book early as spaces are limited!
We are hosting our very own festive celebration at our hugely popular development Marleigh, just outside Cambridge city centre. Kicking off at 3pm, visitors and residents alike are invited to come along and enjoy the Christmas Fair in Jubilee Square.
A Christmas Tree light switch-on is happening on Saturday 3rd of December, at 4:30pm, with the help of special guests from Cambridge Women’s FC.
Before the main event, there will be lots of fun activities for the family, including arts and crafts stalls, carol singing, a photograph opportunity with a giant inflatable snow globe, and a selection of delicious refreshments.
Slightly further afield, Ely Cathedral is a stop that cannot be missed during the festive period, lying only a 15-minute drive from our popular development Rayners Green in Fordham.
Hosting a wide variety of Christmas events, the cathedral is perhaps the most magical venue to attend, especially for a carol service, with a few taking place between the 10th and 17th of December.
Alternatively, you can enjoy the anticipated Christmas Tree light switch-on happening on Sunday 4th of December, or unlock your creativity with their wreath-making sessions on the 8th of December.

Held on the Granary Estate, a 5-minute journey away from The Hawthorns in Sawston, is another must-visit Christmas market to mark in your calendar on the 10th of December.
Full of an array of wooden market stalls, it is the perfect place to wander around to find the perfect stocking fillers for your friends and family. All sourced from local businesses and independent creators, they are sure to be unique and made with love.
End the afternoon on a high with a warm festive drink and enjoy the live music with a bite to eat from one of the many food stands.
