With chocolate eggs lining the shelves, daffodils in bloom on every street corner, and the odd egg-cellent pun flying around (including a few in this blog), Easter is well and truly on its way. To help you celebrate this much-loved holiday, below is a round-up of the best events happening in and around Cambridge, including one which is being attended by a very special rabbit wearing a blue jacket…
Peter Rabbit Comes to Capstone Fields
On Saturday 1st April, Peter Rabbit, the most famous bunny in town, is visiting Capstone Fields in Hardwick, to kick start the Easter fun with a special meet and greet event.
Hop down to our sales suite to pick up a children’s Easter activity pack and make your way to our show home garden to meet Peter. Dressed in his best outfit, Peter Rabbit will be eager to have his photograph taken with you and he will also be handing out special chocolate treats.
National Trust’s Easter Egg Trails
Five of the National Trust parks in Cambridge are hosting exciting Easter egg hunts where families are invited to take part in nature-inspired activities around the picturesque, flower-filled gardens of Anglesey Abbey, Houghton Mill, Peckover House, Wimpole Estate and Wicken Fen.
Each trail will be different, but all will offer delicious Easter chocolates along the way, inclusive of dietary requirements, so everybody can enjoy and experience the fun.
Easter Wreath Workshop
Catering for older Easter fanatics, the Museum of Cambridge is hosting an exclusive workshop on Saturday 1st April where those coming along will join florist Julia from ‘What the Fleur’, to learn how to create a moss-based garden flower wreath using seasonal foliage, long-lasting, dried flowers and Easter themed decorations.
The result will be a stunning design that is entirely your own, ready to take home or give as a beautiful Easter gift to someone special.
Easter Eggxhibition
Calling all those with a creative spirit. On Wednesday 5th April, Milton Road Library wants to see your craziest and most eggs-traordinary home-decorated easter egg for their Easter Eggxhibition. Using any choice of colours, textures, and materials, decorate your hard-boiled or empty egg at home, add a name tag and proudly show off your cracking skills.
All entries will receive the most important prize - bragging rights - and will have their egg displayed at the library for the rest of the day. Everyone’s a winner!
Longstanton Spring Market
On Saturday 1st April, Longstanton will welcome in the beautiful, bright season with a Spring Market. Situated on the village green, the market will feature tasty Easter treats, bespoke crafts, local produce, warming coffee, delightful plants, community stalls, eco-friendly products, and gifts.
The market is the ideal way to discover what local artisans have to offer and feel part of the local community. Most importantly, the market is run entirely by volunteers with all proceeds donated to local causes within the village.
Linton’s Easter Trail
The much-loved Linton Easter Trail is back with a chocolatey bang. Located on the grounds of St Mary’s Church, the trail will be fun, educational, and inclusive for all children. One trail will be for 0–7-year-olds and the other for 7–11-year-olds. Best of all, a goody bag including an easter egg will be gifted to each child who completes the trail.
With so many events to explore, Easter in Cambridge is sure to be a fantastic celebration for all to enjoy.
